A book is devoted the Ukrainian monasteries as most ancient centers of spirituality, cultures, educations of our people, and also as prominent architectural bands which history of Ukraine and its separate regions is related to. Told about the basic rules of foundation, building and mode of christian monasteries, about their blagodiyneckom and cultural labour, about destruction of monasterial bands in the days of the totalitarian mode in the XX century, about their today's revival. Greater part of volume of book devoted the recital of basic, known and most ancient monasteries of all regions of Ukraine and all confessions - Kievo-pecherskoy, Pochaevskoy and Svyatogorskoy of large monastery, Armenian monastery of Surb-khach in Crimea, catholic black Friar monastery in Lvov, other monasteries of Lvov, Kiev, Lutsk, Chernigov, Luben, Pereyaslav, Putivl', Poltava, Novgorod-Siverskoy. In these stories the special accent is done on those historical events which are related to one or another monasteries.
