Scientific and technical library is structural division of the Odessa national polytechnical university.

           The book fund totals 1,35 million copies. Subjects of assemblies: engineering, mechanical engineering, computer facilities, microelectronics, the heating engineer, hydraulics, the electrical engineer, a radio engineering, processing of metals, transport, the organization of manufacture, the chemical industry, metallurgy, economy, humanitarian and political sciences. The library also has rich fund of fiction.

            The present stage of development of library changes the basic priorities of activity. To traditional problems functions of a supply with information of educational and scientific processes, transformations of library into modern information center, maintenance of wide access of readers to own library information products, use of a global network and world databanks are added.     

            Annually the library serves 35 thousand readers. Delivery of books for a year makes over 840 thousand copies, visiting – over 420 thousand. To services of readers five subscriptions: for teachers, science officers and employees of university; for students of the day time form of training; for students of the correspondence form of training; fiction; the philological literature and МБА. Works five reading rooms: for teachers, scientific employees; information publications; the technical and natural-science literature; the humanitarian and political literature; a hall of the philological literature. At a hostel №4 the reading room also works. Simultaneously in reading rooms of library 550 readers can work.

            The search device of library will consist of system of library catalogues and card files, the electronic catalogue, the electronic library, the specialized fund of bibliographic editions. Since 2001 in library the electronic catalogue is conducted, the local computer network which provides creation and use EC operates. 5 databases of the electronic catalogue are created: a DB of the books issued in the Ukrainian language, a DB of the books issued in Russian since 1991, a DB of dissertations, a DB of author's abstracts, a DB of the scientific and technical documentation. The retrospective DB of the books issued in Russian till 1991 is created.

            The electronic library contains text-through electronic versions of scientific and technical collections which are issued by university, and also manuals, abstracts of lectures and methodical grants (manuals) of teachers and scientific employees of university.

            The library always cooperates with institutes, faculties of university. This and general(common) carrying out of days of faculties, prime-minister of books, lecturing to students of the first rate on subjects of bibliographic knowledge.

            Exhibitions of new receipts are carried out(spent) in a reading room of information publications and updated weekly.
